To set up a trading company in the United Arab Emirates, if you want to continue setting up a continental company, you will need to find sponsors for your business as it is very important to find local sponsors to set up a business in that part of the continent. There are basically two different types of participation options: local sponsorship or corporate sponsorship, which basically means that the local sponsor gets a 51% stake in your organization, while the corporate sponsor gives you a 100% stake in the Investor Protection Act.
Legal formalities
Licensing is a very important step in starting a trading company in the United Arab Emirates and in conducting your business legally in the United Arab Emirates. Below is a brief overview of the tasks that will allow you to get a general license to trade in the UAE;
- Choose your company name
- Choose your business activity
- Get pre-approval from DED
- Get external approval if necessary
- Prepare a certificate of incorporation signed by your partner
- Choose your office location and make a lease that is Ejari certified.
- Submit the completed application to the Department of Economic Development (DED).
- Pay all related fees.
The following documents are required to apply for general admission:
- License application signed by a legal representative
- Deed of Incorporation
- Company name approved by DED
- Partner's passport and visa
All of these documents from the Setup Commercial Company in the United Arab Emirates will be distributed to officials who will review and validate them so they can include your trade name in their commercial register. DED will then submit all documents to the Ministry of Economy for approval, after which the Ministry will notify you of successful issues.
The first step is to create a suitable business plan that will run your company, then choose the right jurisdiction for your vision, the third is to appoint a local sponsor for your company if your preferred jurisdiction is continental and finally the main focus is to obtain all necessary legal approvals.
